Fatima Abdullah, Lebanon’s 9-Year-Old Pager Blast Victim

Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, now in its 349th day, has killed at least 41,272 Palestinians and wounded 95,551 others — a conservative estimate — with 10,000+ believed to be buried under rubble of annihilated homes.

The town of Saraain el Faouqa has gathered in a massive procession to mourn Fatima Abdullah, a 9-year-old Lebanese girl, who was handing her father his pager when it exploded in her hands, in an attack blamed on Israel.

In tears, the girl’s aunt said: “Fatima had just returned from her first day of school, brimming with enthusiasm. She was a top student and loved by everyone.”

“Fatima…was studying when the pager rang. She picked it up to give it to her father who was outside, but it exploded in her hands,” Ali Abdullah, the girl’s friend said.

With 11-year-old Mohammad Bilal King, the girl is among the two children confirmed dead in the wave of pager attacks across Lebanon.

Self-detonating pagers killed at least 12 people in Lebanon and wounded at least 2,800 others on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, simultaneous self-detonations of walkie-talkies killed at least 20 people and wounded 450 others, authorities say.

The Lebanese government and Hezbollah have accused Israel of carrying out the explosions.

While Israel remains silent, US media outlets including The New York Times and CNN say that Israel planted explosive material on the batteries inside the pagers and other electronic devices before they reached Lebanon and then remotely detonated them.
